Jeannette Young sworn in as Queensland's Governor

Jeannette Young has been sworn in as Queensland's 27th Governor, after yesterday ending 16 years as the state's chief health officer.
She is the fourth woman to serve in the role.

Distinguished guests seated at the Speaker's Green at Parliament House were welcomed with the Australian anthem and a cultural performance by members of the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts.

Dr Young took an oath of allegiance and office as part of the ceremony, sincerely promising to be "of true allegiance" to Queen Elizabeth II and her heirs and successors according to law.
