Puppy rescued by Brisbane Water Police at Nudgee Beach

The puppy was taken to an emergency vet for treatment.

A puppy has been rescued after it was seen treading water and in distress near a boat over the weekend.

The dog was found when a member of the public contacted triple-0 for a welfare check on a sailboat moored on the Kedron Brook waterway at Nudgee Beach in Brisbane’s north.

Brisbane Water Police rushed to the scene and found the puppy in the water between the boat and the pontoon about 10.30pm on Saturday.

Officers rescued the puppy, which had been using a partially submerged tyre to stay afloat.
