Queensland records 714 COVID-19 cases, none in ICU, with 75 per cent confirmed as Omicron

Queensland has recorded 714 new cases of COVID-19, with 75 per cent of those being the Omicron variant, Treasurer Cameron Dick says.
There were 29,918 test results received in the 24-hour testing period. 

The number of new cases is a slight dip on Saturday's 765, but Chief Health Officer John Gerrard said it was likely due to fewer people getting a COVID-19 test on Christmas Day.

That is despite 2,857 active cases in the state.

"It won't surprise us at all, that over the next couple of days, the numbers get substantially higher," he said.
