Queensland has recorded 784 new cases of COVID-19 from more than 24,515 tests, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk saying testing capacity would be increased to deal with growing demand.
Ms Palaszczuk said testing capacity would increase at Metro North, Metro South, the Gold Coast and Cairns in the next few days.
She said no policy changes would happen before January 1 with regard to the requirement for travellers to undergo a test on their fifth day in the state.
But she said a decision on the use of rapid antigen tests instead of PCR tests would be made in the next 24 to 48 hours.
