Four Australians are among 40 new coronavirus cases confirmed on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which is currently under quarantine in a Japanese port.
The latest cases of the virus — now named COVID-19 by the World Health Organisation (WHO) — include passengers and one quarantine official.
The quarantine official had been wearing a mask and gloves, and was collecting and processing questionnaires from passengers.
The officer is already in hospital and had self-isolated as a precaution.
The ship, which is being held under quarantine in the port of Yokohama, has more than 3,000 passengers and crew on board, including more than 200 Australians.
There are now at least 175 confirmed cases of coronavirus from the ship's passengers and crew.
The total number of Australians passengers who have been infected is 15.
